Granada has such amazing flamenco performances. One of the great tragedies of my life was that I was caught by such horrible allergies that I couldn’t breathe and had to leave in the middle of the best one I ever saw. *weeps openly*

I went there back in HS for a field trip. I enjoyed it, but I don’t think I’ve seen enough live flamenco to judge whether it was better than what you’ve seen. My mom always took her Spanish classes there.

I loved growing up in Santa Barbara and going to Fiesta (Old Spanish Days) because there were so many good flamenco dancers at all the performances. Obviously there were bad or just-ok ones too, but man, some just take your breath away.

Now I’m curious as to whether you’ve seen Northeastern’s (Illinois) Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater?
I have not! Most of the U.S. performances I’ve seen have been in NY. Are they good?
I feel bad when I look at Flamenco videos before I decide whether or not to attend a show and say to myself “Wow, you guys are sloppy as fuck” because who am I? But if I’m going to shell out $20+ to see a performance, it better be great. And from everything I’ve seen great flamenco is really hard to come by.
